MEDIA AND EQUIPMENT CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE PERFORMANCE SPACE

These considerations are based on the premise that this space will be multi-functional. They are by no means exhaustive, but serve as a basis for discussion with the Committee as a Whole and the architect.

SOUND AND AUDIO

A multi-channel sound reinforcement system of the noise-canceling, non-feedback type. The system should be capable of mixing wireless and fixed microphone inputs for live speech and/or music, as well as play-back of the audio portion of such.other sources as: off-the-air/satellite/cable television; videotapes, cassettes and CD/DVD formats; computer generated audio; digital and analog audio signals from disks and tapes and such other storage media as may be available at the time of construction.. The system should be capable of accommodating theatre-style surround sound formats with appropriate speakers configured for the space.

The system should also be capable of:

PROJECTION FACILITIES, COMPUTER AND VIDEO EQUIPMENT
ROOM LIGHTING AND ASSOCIATED ITEMS
STORAGE AND WORK SPACE

Implicit in the considerations above is the need for adequate storage for equipment, cables, lights, tables, display materials etc. and work space to prepare for the use of such items.

The Ossining Public Library telephone/telecommunications system should be reviewed with reference to future patron/staff calling needs, internal communication, external connections via DSL/county fiber optic backbone/satellite, connections to the WLS automation system, suitability for accessing and distributing increased loads of data,
