Help celebrate the 125th Anniversary

In 1893, the Sing Sing Public Library, later known as the Ossining Public Library, officially opened its doors as a public library, making 2018 the year of our quasquicentennial—or the much easier to pronounce 125th Anniversary.

While the physical location of the library changed several times, from its beginnings in the superintendent’s office at Park School, to the Twiggar Building on Main Street, and finally our home on Croton Avenue, its mission has been unwavering: to provide the people of Ossining with access to books, resources, and information. The library has served the Ossining community through two World Wars, the Great Depression, and an unprecedented boom in media and technology that has transformed the library and library services.

We are thrilled to announce that we will be commemorating the library’s milestone anniversary throughout 2018, beginning with a kickoff on Saturday, February 10, from 2pm to 4pm that will launch a year’s worth of programs and activities for all ages, celebrating the library, the Ossining community, and 125 years of history and culture.

We hope that you will join us in celebrating our library in 2018. Visit our website and follow us on social media for updates on our planned events to celebrate the year.
