"CRASH OUT" AT KGB BAR:
David Goewey author of Crash Out: The True Tale of a Hell's Kitchen Kid & the Bloodiest Escape in Sing Sing History will read from his book as part of Prison, Diamonds, & Catfights: An Evening of Nonfiction readings at: KGB Bar. (85 East 4th St, between 2nd & 3rd Avenue in Manhattan), Tuesday, May 30th, at 7PM. The event is free. Goewey, an Ossining native and the son and grandson of guards at Sing Sing, drew a standing-room-only crowd when he discussed his book at the library in February. Also reading at KGB on May 30: Tom Zoellner, author of The Heartless Stone: A Journey Through the World of Diamonds, Deceit and Desire and Susan Shapiro Barash, author of Tripping the Prom Queen: The Truth About Rivalry and Women. BLOCK PARTY: The Hudson Valley Writers Center is hosting a free block party to celebrate its 10th anniversary in the old Philipse Manor railroad station. Sunday, June 11, 1-4 pm, with New York State Poet (and former U.S. Poet Laureate) Billy Collins and writer Ben Cheever. Music, crafts, food and activities for kids. 332-5953; www.writerscenter.org
PICTURES FROM THE PAST:
Poet Suzanne Cleary, a professor of English at SUNY Rockland, will read and discuss her poetry in a program titled "Pictures from the Past" at Atria-on-Hudson, formerly Cambridge House, 321 N. Highland Avenue, Friday, June 16 at 2 p.m. sponsored by the Ossining Library Associates.
