READ THE BOOK, SEE THE PLAY:

Theater-goers of all ages who are planning to attend Ossining High School's production of "Once Upon a Mattress" may want to first read the musical's original inspiration: Hans Christian Anderson's classic fairy tale, "The Princess and the Pea."

Free admission at OHS Oct. 26 at 4 pm; Oct. 27 and Oct. 28 at 7 pm, and Oct. 29 at 2 pm. And a historical note for Carol Burnett fans: She made her Broadway debut in 1959 playing Princess Winnifred the Woebegon in the original cast, and last year played Queen Aggravain in a TV adaptation on ABC.
