Beat The Hype: Read “Bird Box” Now

Dec 12, 2018 | Books, Movies and TV

Netflix, it must be says, knows a thing or two about entertainment. Their forays into original series have been critically acclaimed, entertaining, and totally bingeable–The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Master of None, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, and Stranger Things, to name a few…and that’s without mentioning their documentaries like Making a Murderer and reality shows, like Queer Eye and my beloved Nailed It.

So it’s no surprise that their original films have been equally great and their film adaptations, to be specific: I loved To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and Dumplin’ before they were movies, and I was beyond pleased with their film versions. I am thinking that they will maintain this standard of excellence with their latest adaptation, Bird Box, which is set to drop on December 23.

A post-apocalyptic thriller (here for it) starring Sandra Bullock (yes, please),  Bird Box is based on a book by Josh Malerman and follows a woman grappling with an apocalyptic entity so powerful that one must be blindfolded to avoid looking at it, which would lead to tragedy. The plot sounds gripping and scary, and that’s all a person wants on a dark night, right?

Beat the hype over the book by reading it before the 23rd; it’s available as both an audiobook and eBook with Hoopla; click here to log-in to Hoopla with your library card and PIN. And make sure to let us know what you think of the book, and the movie once you’re finished!
